yourtown’s Mind 4 Kids Program provides psychological therapies and psychosocial supports for children aged to 11 years with moderate mental health issues, to improve their health, resilience and wellbeing.

We are setting up satellite locations across the service region, in the Strathpine and Caboolture areas. We can offer flexibility and are open to various options, depending on the successful candidate. We are interested in hearing from people available for either full time or part time work. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a reputable service that has a range of programs in the child and family space and is well connected with the community. You will have the opportunity to collaborate and attend cross-service training with other co-located services including Glugor Young Parents Program, Starfish Family Mental Health Support Service, Communities for Children and Expressive Therapies.

The Child and Family Support Worker provides psychosocial support to children aged 0 – 12 years and their families experiencing mental health challenges and associated reduced psychosocial functioning. You will assist them to build capacity and stability that aims to improve individual and family safety and enhance wellbeing and life prospects.

Your role will include:

• undertake needs assessments and develop and manage collaborative case plans
• provide individual supports to children to support problem solving; social skills; peer and family connections; and practical assistance
• engage families in outreach activities in the home and in the community
• ensure families are provide with support to develop life skills; build confidence and capacity and engage with relevant services
• provide psycho-educational groups and information sessions

This position will be appointed on a maximum term basis until 30 June 2023, with possibility for extension.

You will be comfortable and skilled in working with primary school aged children through a collaborative approach with families.

You will bring:

• passion, commitment and belief in young people
• diploma level qualifications in Child Development, Human Services or similar
• minimum of 3 years’ experience working with families with complex needs and vulnerability
• experience in leading, developing and facilitating individual and group interventions
• ability to communicate with and engage children and their families and ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
