Geraldton Flexible Learning Centre (GFLC) is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, situated in Geraldton, approx. 420kms north of Perth and is part of the EREA Oscar Romero Flexi Schools Network. About this Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Youth Worker with relevant qualifications and experience to join a team of dedicated educators and support staff. The successful applicants will be responsible for supporting the socio-emotional needs of a cohort of highly disengaged young people, with the goal to eventually transition them to further education or employment opportunities.
You will work in a team environment to deliver supportive and innovative youth development programs for young people. The roles engages with a diverse range of young people to understand their needs and aspirations, using these insights to design and run activities that contribute to the personal development of young people.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Relevant tertiary studies, Youth/Social Work Cert IV, and/or equivalent.
- Strong motivation and initiative.
- Good understanding of the issues facing young people, including demonstrated skill and commitment to working with young people.
- Experience engaging with diverse stakeholder groups including young people, families and other professionals.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Practitioners with experience in the implementation of the Restorative Practice Framework are highly desirable.
- A current Working with Children clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role, or the ability to obtain.
- First Aid or willingness to obtain.
- Local travel (including minivan driving) is a requirement of this position therefore it is a requirement that the applicant hold a current ‘C’ driver’s license, and the ability to obtain your “Light Rigid” licence.
This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to EREA and legislative screening procedures.
