Our Child and Family Counsellor will provide child-centred, family focused counselling responses to children, young people and their families who may have experienced or are experiencing trauma, including sexual assault, abuse or family violence. You will be expected to provide expertise as part of a community development team working to prevent sexual abuse within the community. The role will provide community education and preventive programs in collaboration with other agencies and Yaandina’s integrated services.
This is a full time position, located in Roebourne WA however, due to the nature of the work and to meet the needs of the families, some flexibility will be required.
About You
You will have a Bachelor qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent, along with substantial experience working with children, young people and adults with complex needs. You will have demonstrated ability to build strong rapport and engage with children and families, whilst maintaining their dignity and privacy. Your experience working with clients of diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds will contribute to your success in the role.
You will be outcome focused, with strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices and programs, legislative requirements and current trends. You will possess excellent communication, conflict resolution, and report writing skills, along with highly developed planning and time management skills. Above all, a passion for working with children and young people to improve their quality of life is essential.
In addition to the above, it is essential that you satisfy the following compliance requirements:

- National Criminal History Check
- Unrestricted Drivers Licence
- Fully COVID Vaccinated – desirable
