drummond street services (ds) delivers responsive, intentional and evidence-based prevention, early intervention and treatment programs, within a public health framework. We strive to build and enhance the innate resilience of children, young people, adults, their families and communities and to increase protective factors across all our programs with a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing and prioritising our support to particular communities who often don’t see themselves or feel safe or heard within other services and systems.

We continue to expand in our mental health and wellbeing services, with a number of new roles being established as part of our partnership with Neami National and Uniting Care to establish two new Local Adult mental health services in Latrobe Valley (Gippsland) and Whittlesea (Melbourne Metro).

The establishment of these new services has resulted in a range of new exciting opportunities to join our team, including this leadership opportunity as Mental Health Services Program Manager.  Working for Drummond Street Services, and in partnership with Neami National (Lead organisation) and Uniting Care this role is a critical leadership role to support Drummond Street in the establishment of intersectional mental health services – and as part of establishment of the first of these 2 services in Whittlesea and Latrobe Valley.

These new local Mental Health & Wellbeing Services (MH&WS) is an innovative solution to deliver on the compelling vision outlined through the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. They will offer a diverse and safe transdisciplinary workforce which centres people’s wellbeing and values the knowledge and skills of a transdisciplinary teams, including MH clinicians, therapeutic case support practitioners, and mental health peer support with the ability to integrate clinical, social and emotional wellbeing, psychosocial and lived experience perspectives as part of our intersectional mental health practice.

Your role

You will provide leadership to teams of multi-disciplinary practitioners  – including family-focused, LGBTIQ+ and lived experience practitioners delivering innovative mental health and wellbeing across our services, including supporting our intersectional mental health practitioners in the two new co-located Local Adult Mental Health Services in the Whittlesea and Latrobe Valley region.  

In addition the opportunity of supporting and influencing our broader mental health practice approach across a range of our programs including our Head-to-Health service in Geelong and our complex trauma work with institutional survivors under our National Redress Support Service and Your Way through – Disability Royal Commission Service.

Drummond Street operates at a number of locations; Carlton, Collingwood, North Melbourne, Epping, Wyndham, Brimbank and Geelong – along with new Local Adult Mental Health sites – Morwell and Whittlesea.

Your responsibilities – as per Position Description

Selection Criteria:  Please address the following Essential Selection Criteria for your application to be considered.

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology and further training in relation to family work and complex trauma
• Proven practice leadership experience at a clinical level within the area of mental health service delivery
• Demonstrated high level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work tasks
• A genuine interest and commitment to working with First Nations People, LGBTIQ+ people, people with disability, people of color and public housing residents.
• Demonstrated skill in the application of recovery-based approaches in a clinical setting
• Experience working as a member of a multi- disciplinary team with the ability to inspire and facilitate team commitment and cooperation
• Experience working across a range of Commonwealth and State funded mental health programs and ensuring program implementation in line with funding requirements and contracts
• Demonstrated ability to form and nurture partnerships with government and non-government mental health, emergency and community service providers
