About the Role
Based at our Hawthorn Clinic, close to multiple public transport routes, this is a great pathway into mental health for newly registered health practitioners. You will proactively engage with consumers and their families and carers to support their connection with St Vincent’s mental health service, and navigation of the complex mental health, general health and social services systems.
Your role will complement other clinical roles by performing collaborative tasks that improve overall engagement in mental health recovery. Your role will also support maintaining clinical engagement and to provide assistance in completing complex paperwork.
You will be provided with orientation, skill development, supervision and support to meet competencies, engage in autonomous practice whilst working as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with individuals/families/networks working towards engagement and recovery goals.
Classifications for this position will range from OT/SW Grade 1 YB16 – YB19 or YC35 – YC39 ($73,808 – $84,572 per annum)
Your Contribution
- Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work
- Experience in the provision of assessment, discipline specific intervention and case management services to consumers with a serious mental illness and complex needs and their carers within a recovery framework
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Post-graduate qualifications in relevant area of specialty or in the process of achieving the same are desirable
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain/ Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain

About Hawthorn Mental Health
St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.
The Hawthorn Clinic Continuing Care Teams provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of clients who suffer with a serious mental illness and associated high level of disability in the City of Boroondara. The multidisciplinary team provides a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the recovery-focused Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice.
