The Role
Mercy Community currently has a vacancy for a Counsellor to join the Foster and Kinship Care team in Ipswich. This role is a Permanent Part-time position offering 60 hours a fortnight.
This position provides counselling and therapeutic services to clients, including assessments, pre- and post-evaluations and interventions within the Intensive Intervention Placement Support service. This position also liaises with a broad network of stakeholders who participate in or impact on the success of client plans, referrals and goals.
To be eligible for this position you will require (Key Selection Criteria):
- Relevant 3 year or 4-year degree with previous relevant experience
- Complete relevant assessments which underpin the therapeutic goals, intervention plans, casework and support for clients. Provide short/long term individual and/or family counselling for clients in response to referrals.
- Ensure a culturally appropriate counselling response to clients from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD backgrounds.
- Prioritise and manage tasks to ensure all client and program needs are met. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
- Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
- Evidence of current vaccination against COVID-19 and whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant MCS procedure.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $35.77 to $42.25 plus superannuation in line with level 3.3 to 4.4 of our Enterprise Agreement (dependent on qualifications and experience).
