JOB DESCRIPTION

Northside Christian College was established in 1985 to provide an education that was academically excellent and spiritually wholesome for local Christian church members. Over thirty-five years later, Northside is now a leading private, co-educational, non-denominational Brisbane Christian college in Everton Park. We offer Christ-centred education from Prep to Year 12 on one campus. The College has become respected for great academic results, commitment to character development, sporting spirit, and passionate community service

 

We are seeking two Part Time accredited and experienced School Counsellors to provide high level counselling to students from Prep to 6 and/or Years 7 to 12. The Counsellors works predominately with students who require a higher level of support and intervention and assists in personal counselling, as well as providing guidance and mentoring to teachers to enhance their understanding of student wellbeing issues.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Professional qualifications in Counselling with professional registration.
  • Previous experience in a counselling position with a school environment (desirable)
  • Understanding of the wellbeing needs of children and adolescence as these relate to the learning and personal growth outcomes for students
  • The ability to develop positive, professional relationships with staff and parents
  • Expertise in identification, formulation and counselling of students
  • Ability to provide psycho-education about adolescent mental health to teaching staff
  • Ability to identify appropriate external professionals for students requiring support outside the services of the specialist staff at the College.
  • Ability to collaborate with educators in formulating support programs for students
  • Willingness to collaborate effectively with a broad range of key academic and wellbeing staff to enhance student outcomes.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and professional currency.
  • Professionalism and discretion at all times 
  • Flexibility and commitment to the provision of a high-standard of professional care
  • Blue Card (for Paid employment) for working with children, or eligibility 
  • An active Christian faith
