Overview:
Firbank Grammar is seeking a passionate School Counsellor or Psychologist to join our Senior School Wellbeing Department on a fixed term basis for semester 1 of 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing school counselling services to students while demonstrating a clear understanding of processes and procedures when handling case-sensitive situations.
Reporting to the School Psychologist, you will be able to provide support and advocacy for our students to equip them with the skills to be ‘conquerors of learning’ and ready for life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the counselling teams and School Leaders to provide timely and proactive support for students
- Provide counselling services to students on a daily capacity and needs basis
- Be available to work with School Psychologist and Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate and up to date data and confidential records
- Take all practical measures to protect students where a risk to their safety has been identified
Experience and Qualifications:
- Appropriate qualifications as Psychologist, Counsellor or social worker
- Experience working in schools
- Experience in counselling adolescents
- Effective communication to create strong professional relationships
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Current Working with Children Check
This is a fixed term, part time (0.6 FTE) role for semester 1 2023
