JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Full-time, 12-month contract
  • Flexible working arrangements, work from home and in the office
  • Located in Adelaide CBD with travel across metropolitan Adelaide as required
  • Support families with complex needs to provide culturally safe, trauma responsive interventions to increase child safety, wellbeing and enhance family functioning.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Child, Family & Youth Practitioner that is passionate about working in culturally safe ways to collaborate with families to work through barriers and identify goals to improve relationships between parents and children.

Our Integrated Family Services provide a range of tailored services to strengthen families and improve the wellbeing of children. As a Child, Youth & Family Practitioner you will need to be able to identify risk and develop strategies to effectively manage these as well as support families to work towards providing a safe and nurturing environment.

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Develop case plans that are culturally safe and trauma informed; that have clear tasks, responsibilities and timeframes with families.
  • Conduct behaviourally specific, interactive and holistic assessments, which includes information about culture, family strengths, risks, challenges, responsibilities, needs, values, skills and potential barriers to safety and goal attainment.
  • Provide a range of service responses that aim to increase the parent’s/caregivers understanding, skill and knowledge of safe and nurturing parenting practices, life skills and coping skills, including in a group setting.
  • Facilitate effective linkages between the family and formal and informal supports.
  • Access and utilise specialist resources and evidence informed frameworks that address the complex needs of family members including FV, D&A, disability, mental health and impact of intergenerational trauma.
  • Strengthen the family’s connection to community and culture by meaningful engagement with community supports that will sustain the family over time and be culturally appropriate.
  • Actively participate in supervision, team meetings, reflective practice and attend relevant training and development opportunities as available.

What do you need to bring?

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, or extensive relevant experience is essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection legislation, family violence sector, practices, and safeguards, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Placement Principles.
  • Proven ability to work with First Nations communities, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Newly Arrived, and emerging communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective case management with families including holistic, consultative and collaborative approaches, assessing individual needs, developing and implementing case plans, leading regular case reviews, professional documentation and file record taking
  • Current Australian Driver’s License and roadworthy insured vehicle (which you’ll be reimbursed for work related travel)
