Due to the increased need for eating disorder services, EDQ is expanding their team, we are excited to be recruiting for the position of:

Carer/Key Support Coach

Hours: 25 per week

Award: SCHADS 

Classification: Level 4.4

Location: South Brisbane (State-wide service delivery, onsite and telehealth)

The Carer Coach must also work within the Vision and Mission of Eating Disorders Queensland (EDQ) and contribute to organisational objectives.

 

Eating Disorders Queensland (EDQ)

EDQ is a state-wide, community-based not-for-profit organisation. We support individuals living with an eating disorder, their carers, loved ones, and key support people.

 

Support options include therapeutic and psychosocial support for individuals, coaching, and community connection for carers. EDQ also provides early intervention opportunities with community education events focused on creating healthy relationships with food and our bodies. We are passionate about eradicating weight stigma and diet culture.

Hold a professional qualification in a humanities/health-related discipline and experience in facilitation/coaching/support roles related to Mental Health.

 

  1. Work in line with EDQ’s policies and procedures 
  2. Provide information about eating disorders and available internal and external support/treatment options
  3. Participate in community education activities offsite (includes stakeholder presentation and engagement)
  4. Work with carers in a Coaching setting to develop positive, suitable strategies and action plans and provide them with tools that will assist them as they support their loved one
  5. Have knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Strategies or Single Session Consultation/Single Session Family Consultation methods       
  6. Provide Single Session Coaching/ Single Session Family Consultation – assisting carers in identifying and targeting key concerns
  7. Maintain a client database, including contact notes, measurement tools and statistics.
  8. Deliver support groups and skill development workshops in consultation with service users.
  9. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Carer Peer Mentor Program, including ongoing recruitment of Mentors/Mentees, program promotion, supervision of mentors, and facilitating mentoring group events.

  11. Highly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and excellent engagement skills, especially in engaging carers and family members impacted by eating disorders
  12. A record of accomplishment of working collaboratively and the demonstrated capacity to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  13. Support innovative state-wide service delivery. Therefore, some travel may be required at times.

 

Reporting Relationships

This position reports to the Snr Carer/Key Supports Coach 

Supervise students and volunteers in line with university requirements and assigned projects.

Funding:

All positions offered by EDQ are conditional on recurrent funding from the Qld Government. Therefore, EDQ offers fixed-term contracts in line with funding timelines.

 

The Carer/Key Supports Coach must possess the following: 

  • the Queensland Police National Police Records Check. 
  • the Queensland Working with Children Check (renewed every five years)
  • the Queensland ‘Yellow Card’ Application for criminal history screening 
  • Australian citizens or persons with full Australian residency status
