JOB DESCRIPTION

Be part of a rewarding role that supports a diverse range of client groups (youth, adults, families and children) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as ?women and children experiencing or escaping Domestic, and Family Violence based in Whyalla.

The Role

Centacare Domestic Violence & Homelessness Services delivers programs in Whyalla and surrounding regions. Whyalla Homelessness Service provides early intervention support to prevent homelessness and provides accommodation and support to individuals, couples and families, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Whyalla Regional Domestic Violence Service provides support and accommodation, advocacy and other related specialist support services to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence or Aboriginal family violence and who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.

This is a fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2023 (a subsequent fixed-term period may be offered subject to funding).

What you need to bring


     Essential

  • Social Work degree or equivalent
  • Experience in case management, and demonstrated ability to monitor, review and assess client progress against the case plan
  • Experience in working with women and their children escaping domestic or Aboriginal family violence
  • Proven ability to understand complex issues and develop creative solutions to problems working alongside the client
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meetings/training including travel to Adelaide when required
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check. (previously known as ‘Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance’)
  • Due to the nature of our services, Centacare is required to comply with COVID19 government directions. You will be required to provide Centacare with your COVID19 vaccination certificate. If you cannot comply, you are encouraged to have a confidential conversation with the hiring manager about your individual circumstances to find out how this may apply to you.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to undertake some work out of standard work hours when required
  • Ability to participate in the out-of-hours on-call roster, on-call allowances will apply as per the award

     Desirable

  • Experience using H2H data collection systems
  • Experience in the homelessness sector and in similar organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate service delivery on behalf of clients
