The Opportunity
The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The NSFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence and their children inclusive of cis gendered heterosexual women and, their children; this includes people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+) through a range of specialist family violence programs.
Key Responsibilities
This role is solution focused, actioning brief to intermediate specialist family violence responses. The primary function of the role is to provide a response to victim survivors at risk including ongoing assessment of family violence risk, safety planning, assertive engagement, outreach, extensive advocacy and referrals within the service system.
The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner -Crisis/Intake Response will respond to incoming calls and referrals from victim survivors and provide secondary consultations to professionals, this role may also include short term case management to victim survivors in crisis accommodation.
About You
You will be a tertiary qualified professional (minimum Bachelor level) with a comprehensive understanding of the Integrated Family Violence Service System OR are willing to undertake further education at a Degree level (BA Social Work) as per Recommendation 209 from the Royal Commission into Family Violence. This requires holding knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Common Risk Assessment Framework, MARAM and the ability to share this knowledge and model systems advocacy.
