Mental Health Support Workers – Gold Coast Community Services Bespoke Solutions

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mental Health & Wellbeing Support Worker – Gold Coast

About us

We are a NDIS registered provider supporting people with disability across southeast Queensland.

We support people to practice decision-making across all parts of life, and our relationship-based model of co-designing supports places the person at the centre of all their life decisions, so a person can live their best life, make their own plans, and be treated with dignity and respect, free from discrimination.

It is our goal to provide supports that match a person’s preferences and to recruit workers in line with those preferences to deliver customised supports that build skills and abilities and that progress toward achieving their goals.

We employ people who reflect the diversity of the people we support. We encourage applications from everyone including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, mature age workers, and LGBTIQA+ communities.

This recruitment and selection process is based on the support preferences of NDIS Participants and includes the essential requirements for delivering NDIS supports and services.

About the role

This role is providing mental health and wellbeing supports for NDIS Participants on the Gold Coast primarily at Gaven, Upper Coomera, and Coolangatta. In line with the Participants’ preferences, we are seeking female support workers for these roles under 35 years of age.

The roster requirements for Participant 1 (female) are weekday shifts between the hours of 10am – 5pm; Participant 2 (male) 24/7 supports, with availability for sleepovers as required; and Participant 3 (female) roster is still to be finalised.

During the first 2-4 weeks, the successful applicants will undertake a comprehensive training and support program and will need to be available for a range of shift times.  After the training period, the support roster will transition to stable ongoing shifts.

About you

You will have experience supporting people with their mental health or psychosocial disability. You will understand recovery-oriented practice and trauma informed care. Ideally, you will have experience supporting people with autism, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder

Because of the nature of the support we provide, we are interested in workers with common likes and interests to both Participants, including, swimming, animals, arts and crafts, music, and outdoor activities. Someone who is willing to learn and has the ability to work alone and within a team.

We are searching for a calm and caring person with confident and sound decision-making abilities, who is empathic and open-minded, and who can sustain a long-term commitment to support the health, happiness, and wellbeing of the person

Training and on-the-job mentoring is provided for you to build your skills and become a valued member of this motivated team.
