About the role

Baptcare has a professional spiritual care team of over 30 Spiritual Care Coordinators working in all service areas. We are looking for an experienced, articulate, and competent Spiritual Care Professional to work 3 days a week in the South Melbourne Region supporting our Aged In Home Care clients. The focus of this position is visiting our clients in their homes, client group facilitation, staff support and the recruitment, training, and supervision of spiritual care volunteers. Flexible work arrangements and salary packaging are available for this role. This role requires a reasonable amount of travel and access to a vehicle (Car Allowance is provided).

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • Wholehearted alignment with Baptcare’s Mission, Vision, and Values and openness to deeply understanding of these.
  • An active spiritual life and participation in Christian community/church or support network
  • Mature spiritual formation and demonstrated capacity for practice reflection and theological contemplation 
  • Highly developed listening and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive, person-centred care
  • Ability to work sensitively with individuals and community groups from diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural traditions. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to explain the practice and possibilities of spiritual care to people from varied backgrounds
  • Experience in professional spiritual care
  • Experience working with aged people
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience and skills in administrative duties, professional documentation, data collection and outcome reporting
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and related software
  • Qualifications in theology or Spiritual Care e.g., Bachelor or Diploma of Theology/Ministry/Spiritual Care/Pastoral Care/Chaplaincy
  • Supervised reflective spiritual practice training e.g., CPE/ STFE/ CCTC Intern Program or commitment to complete within 12 months of employment at own cost. 
  • Driver’s Licence & a car is required for this role as you will be driving to visit clients in their homes – a Motor Vehicle Allowance is included in the salary.
  • A home office is required for this role, as Spiritual Care Coordinators have flexible work arrangements.
