JOB DESCRIPTION

Pembroke School is a co-educational, non-denominational, day and boarding school from Early Learning to Year 12. Pembroke is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic applicant to undertake the permanent, part time role (0.83 FTE) of School Psychologist. Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the School’s student wellbeing and pastoral team through the provision of student (ELC to Year 12) mental health, welfare and wellbeing services. 

What will the role involve?

  • Coordinate, administer and report on routine, specialist and diagnostic assessment of students as required by the School
  • Take a lead role in evidence-based intervention, consulting and counselling of students
  • Providing specialised personal and educational counselling service for students 
  • Develop and maintain active lines of communication with all members of the pastoral care team 
  • Assist the Head of SEPD in developing and presenting proactive, preventative evidence-based pastoral care and mental health initiatives for students
  • Work with and provide best practice advice to the Head of Learning Support 
  • Support students and staff in the event of a critical incident 
  • Complete professional development and consultations with parents, teachers and other professionals as required. 

What are we looking for?

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Tertiary qualification in psychology
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, build trusting relationships and work with a diverse range of students, parents and staff
  • Effective communicator, with highly developed listening skills 
  • Demonstrated capacity to reflect and respond, rather than to react
  • Proactive person who welcomes and encourages collaboration with others 
  • Excellent role model for peers and young people,
  • Open-minded, empathetic, creative, collaborative, resilient and resourceful individual.
