headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. We began in 2006, and ever since we’ve provided early intervention mental health services to 12-25-year-olds. Each year, we help thousands of young people, and their family and friends, access vital support through our headspace services in over 145 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.

What you’ll be doing
Fountain Gate Secondary College offers outstanding educational opportunities to students from Years 7-12, and is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment which fosters mutual respect and individual responsibility.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Psychologist to work at Fountain Gate SC providing psychological assessments and treatment, care planning and short-term psychological interventions to young people for a 12month period.
To be successful in this position you will have to have the ability to engage well with students, their families and carers who have a range of presenting mental health difficulties. You will establish a potential client’s needs, develop plans and facilitate access to appropriate services.

Who you’ll be working with
This position will be co-located at Fountain Gate SC, and be integrated within the school wellbeing team. The role reports into the headspace School Services Senior Clinician Coordinator, with clinical management held by headspace. The headspace offices are located in Narre Warren and Pakenham.

Who we’re looking for
In addition to a self-directed passion and drive to support young people within the community, you will have:

  • Highly developed knowledge of the common mental health, and social problems faced by young people and the indicated evidence-based treatment options.
  • Experience working within a Secondary School context.
  • Ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders i.e. young people, local community, government agencies, private practitioners etc.
  • Ability to conduct the following assessments: WISC-V, WIAT-III and WAIS-IV, and produce the corresponding reports for these.

Mandatory Qualification/s, Competencies and/or Licences:

  • Minimum Tertiary qualification in Psychology
  • AHPRA registered
  • Current state-based driver’s license
