NB CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary community mental health service providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties through a range of individual, family based and group therapy programs.

Where you’ll be working
The COPMI Clinician role is primarily based at Brookvale Community Health Centre. NB CYMHS also provide clinical services through the Mona Vale and Dalwood community health centre sites.

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
The COPMI Clinician role provides specialist support and education to children and young people impacted by parental or sibling mental illness. The role involves provision of psycho-education and support to children/young people and supporting positive parenting to minimise impacts of parental mental illness on child development and wellbeing. The COPMI role also provides specialist consultation to both adult and child and youth mental health services regarding COPMI families and develops and strengthens capacity within health and non-health services to identify and meet the needs of children impacted by parental/family mental health difficulties.
The COPMI clinician role works as part on the CYMHS multi-disciplinary team comprising clinical psychology, social work, nursing, psychiatry and psychology and participates in regular individual and group peer support and supervision and is supported through continued professional development opportunities pertaining to the COPMI role.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing to match grading of the position and current full registration with APRHA (or for Social Work membership of relevant professional body). Clinical Psychologists need to hold Master degree or higher in Clinical Psychology. Social Workers and Occupational Therapists Level 3 require relevant clinical experience with minimum at Level 2. Clinical Nurse Specialists must have relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in adult mental health and/or child and youth mental health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues for children and adolescents living in families affected by mental illness and family sensitive practice and partnerships for COPMI.
- Experience in working with children and young people and their families individually and within a group setting.
