JOB DESCRIPTION

Aboriginal Sobriety Group Indigenous Corporation (ASG) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Corporation that values the practice and determinations of Aboriginal culture; customs and tradition. ASG encourages positive and better life experiences empowering our clients and their community to maintain sobriety.

ASG are looking for a qualified AOD Counsellor who has experience or willing to be trained in counselling and case management to join our team.
This position is part time, 4 days a week.

The primary role of the AOD Prison Counsellor

  • Provide personal and social support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through culturally appropriate counselling services
  • Assess the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners and offenders seeking access to AOD programs and counselling services using a holistic framework.
  • Provision of culturally appropriate alcohol and drug counselling and support services to Aboriginal prisoners and offenders throughout the Prisons and Community Correctional Centres in the Adelaide Metro and Southern regions.
  • General outreach counselling

All Candidates must have the following:-

  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs or other counselling qualifications
  • Current Working with Children Clearance
  • Current Vulnerable Person Related Clearance
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Child Safe Environment Certificate
  • Evidence of being fully covid19 vaccinated
  • Eligible to gain or already have a prison system L2 access pass
