The Men’s Behaviour Change Program is governed by No to Violence and The Men’s Referral Service and aims to promote the safety of women and children, whilst holding men accountable for their use of violence and challenging their beliefs and attitudes.

The Program focuses on close partnerships with Victoria Police as well as various state government programs, including services for women and children, No to Violence, Men’s Referral Service and The Department of Justice and Regulation.

The TRAK Forward program supports the therapeutic recovery of adult and children victim survivors of family violence using a trauma informed approach focused on safety, empowerment, and connection. The program operates and runs in collaboration with partner agencies Anglicare Victoria, Windermere, Drummond Street and Think Grow Connect.

Why this role matters
We currently have an opportunity for a values-driven Team Leader to lead, guide and support an effective team of multi-disciplinary practitioners in the delivery of the Men’s service including Men’s Behavior Change Program (incorporating group, case management and family safety contact worker’s) and TRAK Forward.

This is a full-time position maximum term to November 2023. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 7.

The role you could play

  • Responsible for the delivery of Family Violence Services; including Men’s Behaviour Change Program which incorporates the running of group work, case management and family safety contact work, and TRAK Forward (Therapeutic Recovery for Adults and Kids)
  • Staff understand and apply appropriate models, approaches, theories, and practices when dealing with clients
  • Staff workloads are effectively allocated and monitored to ensure effective service delivery and best outcomes for clients
  • Strong networking relationships are formed and maintained with relevant partnerships and stakeholders
  • All program work practices align to quality frameworks and are evaluated in line with legislative requirements
  • Have an awareness of program financial resourcing and ensure operations fall within budget guidelines
  • Reflective practices are implemented for the team and contribute to improved outcomes for clients.
  • A collaborative approach to service delivery and improvement is led and demonstrated by the team.
  • Regular supervision is provided for all staff.
  • Support staff to access training and development opportunities

The programs are delivered across Inner and Outer Gippsland. The position is based at The Salvation Army – Leongatha however travel across the Gippsland region will be required.

What we’re looking for

  • *Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioral sciences at degree level
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of current and relevant theoretical frameworks in relation to working with parents and children, adult and children’s victim/survivors and perpetrators in the context of family violence
  • A sound knowledge of the Family Violence and Domestic service system, including the Royal Commission into Family Violence, the MARAM Framework and the Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes. and Children’s Information Sharing Schemes
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the areas of trauma, complex behaviours, human development, health, and family issues
  • Expertise in working with clients with multiple vulnerabilities, histories of trauma, and complex needs
  • Able to motivate, inspire, lead, and guide a team
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
