Full Time School Counsellor Position 

Based at the Beaumont Hills Campus -commencing Term 1, 27 January 2023

About the School

Malek Fahd Islamic School Ltd (MFIS) is a growing Kindergarten to Year 12 Muslim School with more than 3000 students across three campuses in the Sydney suburbs of Greenacre, Beaumont Hills, and Hoxton Park.

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified, and experienced School Counsellor who will provide a confidential and professional counselling service to students for a wide range of wellbeing concerns, including social, emotional and academic needs.

    Selection Criteria

  • Experience providing evidence-based therapies and counselling for students/ children and young people.
  • Ability to provide group sessions for students and families, if required.
  • Ability to respectfully assist students through the challenges of childhood and adolescence and to help them realise their individual potential.
  • Ability to provide Individual counselling/ short-term therapy. 
  • Provide assessment and diagnosis, followed by appropriate programme design.
  • Capacity to interpret educational specialist’s test.
  • Manage unexpected and crisis situations in a mature and professional manner.
  • Proven experience working with adolescents in the provision of counselling support, preferably within a school environment.
  • Ability to maintain quality and accurate records of student information.
  • Commitment to active involvement in supporting school curricular and co-curricular matters.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with staff, students and parents to assist the positive development of the whole school community.
  • Ability to provide culturally competent care for Muslim children and families and engage respectfully with families.

  • Relevant qualifications in Counselling/ Social Work or Psychology
  • Any other role as requested by the Principal or his delegate.
