Support Worker, Munda Mia Therapeutic Community (TC)

Exciting opportunity to join WA’s leading alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment service.

Are you interested in joining our dynamic team as a Support Worker at Munda Mia, Therapeutic Community (TC) based in Kalamunda?

The service has a 20-bed capacity, offering AOD, residential treatment to young women and their children.  Our program has a specific focus on working with women who have experienced family and domestic violence in addition to their problems with alcohol and/or other drugs. 

The program will also address housing and homelessness issues and will also accommodate women with co-occurring mental health conditions. 

In this role you will support residents in the TC community, by providing them with information and guidance and ongoing support to develop daily living skills and address their AOD issues. Maintaining a presence within the TC community, you will attend to any immediate concerns as appropriate or direct issues to the clinical team for further consideration.

Cyrenian House is a leading not-for-profit non-government organisation that has been operating within the alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment sector since 1981. Cyrenian House provides a wide range of high-quality treatment services that make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by alcohol and other drugs. 

This is a part-time role, working 38 hour per fortnight (hours include working each Sunday) on a 2-year fixed term contract. Applicants are required to have at least 18 months abstinence from AOD use at the time of application and a commitment to remain abstinent.

The successful candidate will require: 

  • Understanding of alcohol and other drug use issues.
  • Experience in working with consumers from diverse backgrounds and different cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of services and community resources relevant to the AOD sector.
  • Experience in women’s issues.
  • Well-developed time and self-management skills; ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and act with diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
  • If you are a person with a lived experience of addiction, we 
  • Experience in parenting and family issues, will be highly regarded.
  • Full work rights, full Driver Licence. 
  • Current Police clearance, Current First Aid Certificate.
