An exciting opportunity exists in the role of Head of Counselling Services at our Wheelers Hill Campus. This opportunity is a permanent part-time (FTE 0.6 – 0.8) role commencing in January 2023.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Principal – Head of Wheelers Hill Campus, the Head of Counselling Services leads a team of psychologists who apply their psychological and educational expertise to support students to achieve academic success, psychological health, and social and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the counselling service in order to ensure a consistent approach is taken by team members
- Provide counselling to students, and consult with parents in the management of educational, social, behavioural and emotional difficulties
- Prioritise student access to service based on assessment and need
- Monitor the allocations of caseload to psychologists
- Provide referral to and liaise with external agencies and specialists as required
- Prioritise and manage educational assessments; write reports and liaise with staff and parents
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Capacity to lead or experience in leading a team and coordinate the counselling service in order to ensure a consistent approach
- Develop protocols for the counselling service in conjunction with campus management
- Expertise in providing education to Middle and Senior School staff regarding student needs
- Confidence in modelling best practice, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well with different stakeholders
- The ability to comply with administrative and organisational requirements including the management of financial resources
- Be registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Hold a current Employment Working With Children Check
