Accoras has been delivering mental health and wellbeing services to South-East Queensland young people and families for 30 years. Accoras operates headspace Inala, in a lead agency capacity, providing early intervention and support to young people in the areas of primary health, mental health, drug and alcohol services, and vocation and education services.

The Role
The headspace Work & Study (hW&S) program helps young people aged 15 – 25 to connect to their career and education goals by connecting with their values and interests. hW&S is a strength-based service that tailors individualised support plans to achieve education or career milestones.
This role is mainly community-based and works with a wide variety of stakeholders including young people, education providers and local employers/employment opportunities.
Your focus will be to assist young people to achieve and maintain sustainable participation in education and employment. This role works collaboratively with our headspace clinical team who focus on improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
hW&S support is delivered one-to-one in person, over the phone or via video conference, with a view to run group-based sessions in the near future.
hW&S specialists can help with:
- keeping up with work or study
- job readiness skills such as finding work, writing a resume and interview preparation
- reassessing study and/or career aspirations
- helping young people make informed decisions in relation to finding meaningful career pathways
- assistance to settle into the workplace including targeted support for both employers and hW&S participants.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until 30 June 2023 with contract extensions aligned to the renewal of funding. Based at our headspace Inala office, you will travel within the Inala/Brisbane South region with all work-related travel reimbursed.
About You

We’re looking for someone who will bring:
- relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Services or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience in the sector
- qualifications in Career Development and Counselling (highly regarded)
- experience, knowledge and alignment with the Individual Placement Support model of care
- experience in a similar client-facing role with a focus on achieving the vocational or employment goals of the individual using strengths-based values alignment
- experience working with young people experiencing barriers to employment
- experience placing and supporting young people with complex needs in employment and educational settings
- knowledge of the mental health or community sector
- strong organisational and case management skills and the ability to coordinate activities
- proactive, confident approaches to building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
