The College seeks applications from suitably qualified Guidance Counsellors to work collaboratively will all members of the College community to promote and foster the achievement, participation, development, mental health and wellbeing of all students through the provision of a comprehensive guidance and counselling service that enables student learning and quality teaching.
Duties undertaken by the position include, but are not limited to:
- Manage counselling and consulting services for students (with personal, social, emotional and educational needs) with a focus on prevention, intervention and student learning.
- Ensure St Rita’s College protocols and quality processes for student protection, educating students with disabilities, the containment of critical incidents and mandatory record keeping are implemented.
- Facilitate proactive and preventative practices and initiatives that promote social, emotional and educational development and the mental health and wellbeing of all students in partnership with school communities.
- Maintain standards of practice that are consistent with registration boards and membership of professional associations.
- Contribute to planning and meetings that support students and College initiatives as appropriate.

Job requirements:
Current full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and/or the Psychology Board of Australia. Relevant postgraduate qualifications are required. For registered teachers, the preference is a Masters level qualification in Guidance and Counselling or equivalent. For registered psychologists, the preference is a Masters level qualification.
