EAP (Employee Assistance Program) Psychologist

Salary Negotiable and commensurate with experience

Role Overview:

LLCW is committed to making a difference in people’s lives. We know that poor mental health is impacting on many individuals, families and organisations in our communities. EAP provides an opportunity to access professional mental health support in a timely manner. This is especially the case in the regional and rural communities we support.

This is a newly created role has been created as part of the exciting growth we have experienced in the EAP part of our business. The successful candidate will have both clinical and management experience with an EAP provider. They will contribute to the values driven, highly professional and ethical delivery of services to our customers through the provision of services including EAP counselling, wellbeing coaching, clinical interventions, and critical incident management. These services are delivered via face-to-face sessions or through digital channels as required. 

The role will require clinical supervision of the team of counsellors and assisting in continuing to build the clinical governance, processes, and best practice services. 

 

Responsibilities:

EAP clinical team lead

  • Undertake assessments of client’s presenting concerns and related risk
  • Use short-term Person-Centred Therapy to identify goals and provide appropriate skills and strategies to achieve them
  • Provision of counselling to individuals with a variety of presenting issues including but not limited to mental, emotional, lifestyle management and work life concerns.
  • Working autonomously with your clients and ensuring best practice in your approach to client work
  • Oversight of other EAP counsellors work including debriefing
  • Oversight of compliance in the use of our case management solution SmarterSoft
  • Occasional customer visits
  • Conduct monthly and/or quarterly on-site visits to respective assigned client companies.
  • Document clinical data of all interventions with clients.
  • Explain benefit coverage to employees and providers.
  • Facilitate requested Short Hour of Training (SHOTS) sessions on various topics identified as part of EAP programming.
  • Act as point of contact for crisis calls and coordinate crisis management response – Out of hours on call availability required
  • Conduct requested home visits in the case of severe injury or death of an employee and/or family member.
  • Liaise closely with the EAP counsellors, and Manager/Director regarding EAP cases and related issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Clinical Psychology 
  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate full-time clinical experience.
  • Experience in assessment, treatment planning, counselling, and use of progressive brief intervention techniques.

 

 

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Understand how to assess crisis and identify likely mental health issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance misuse, risk and suicidality, as well as domestic and family violence and trauma.
  • Work in reflective practice model
  • Experience in group facilitation (i.e. protecting participants, dealing with difficult participants, managing group conflict)
  • Ability to work with diversity, the broad spectrum of cultural and demographic variations in client populations around which discrimination and disadvantage can and does occur (e.g. ethnicity, cultural background, religion, gender, sexuality, social class, disability, and age)
  • Experience mentoring staff/students 
  • Understand and demonstrate appropriate ethical practice 

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Strong clinical background
  2. Experience working within an EAP
  3. Experience in designing and managing delivery of EAP services
  4. Highly developed organisational, time management and problems solving skills 
  5. Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the capacity to provide constructive feedback with sensitivity 
  6. Ability to be flexible (including out of hours availability) and adapt to changes
  7. Ability to work in Promote and maintain a positive, respectful and enthusiastic work environment
  8. Experience leading teams
  9. Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders 
  10. Good levels of computer literacy, including the Microsoft suite of programs and online case management systems
  11. Ability to travel to support the program across our footprint
  12. Require a current driver’s licence 
  13. Police and working with children clearance or willingness to obtain them

 

Some travel will be involved throughout regional and remote NSW. 

Flexible work options are available. There is a significant amount of client face to face work needed for this role.

The successful applicant will be joining a team of passionate dedicated staff and volunteers. Renumeration will be commensurate with skills and experience. You will enjoy the benefits of $611 per fortnight fringe benefits
