Social Worker Level 3 – Manning Mental Health Inpatient Unit – Incentives Offered

This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

About the Role:
This is an opportunity for an experienced and motivated social worker to work within a multidisciplinary inpatient team setting, providing a broad range of psychosocial assessments and therapeutic interventions to support the recovery of individuals experiencing acute mental health issues and a range of psychosocial complexity. There is significant ongoing need to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and families/carers to support the ongoing care needs of persons with a lived experience of mental illness. There are additional opportunities to work on quality and service improvement initiatives.
The successful Candidate will provide high quality social work services to clients admitted to the Taree Mental Health Inpatient unit. The Taree Mental Health Inpatient Unit, is part of Manning Mental Health Service and primarily provides inpatient mental health services to individuals residing across our 4 community mental health sites (Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster and Taree) located on the Lower Mid North Coast. The position is fulltime but willing to consider job sharing for the right candidate. The position is located within a multidisciplinary team and is supported by the site Senior social worker Manning Mental Health Service.
You will be supported in this position by the Site senior social worker and Clinical Care Coordinator. Maintaining professional supervision is a requirement within the role.
About You:
This position will primarily require you to provide intervention and consultation to adult clients between 18-65 years of age with occasions where you will be required to provide interventions to adolescents and older persons. Skills include communication skills, building therapeutic relationship, assessing risk , ability to perform mental state examination and team work within a multidisciplinary team.
You will bring your exceptional communication skills and ability to build therapeutic relationships, assess risk and perform mental state examinations to this position.
