About the role
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner with Journey Health Solutions you will be part of a passionate team, dedicated to advancing the very best in evidence-based practice and innovation. Within this role you will be supported to use a range of skills to complete assessments, develop interventions and support the implementation of these interventions for clients with a range of presentations including mental health diagnoses, intellectual disability and autism. You will also work collaboratively with clients, families, support workers and other professionals to develop Behaviour Support Plans and assist to coach support staff, family and others in understanding the person, their difficulties and how to implement the strategies identified. Great scope to tailor your case load in line with your skills interests and preferences, including option of working with children, adults or a combination. Some of the work involved on a day-to-day basis includes:
- Working with client presentations ranging from moderate to complex with a focus on addressing challenging behaviours, supporting goal achievement and improving quality of life.
- Completing Functional Behaviour Assessments as well as other assessments utilising formal assessment tools and clinical interviewing
- Developing evidence-based therapeutic and behavioural interventions tailored to the needs of the client and their support network
- Working collaboratively with clients, families, support workers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to develop and document person-centred and evidence based Behaviour Support Plans
- Support clients, families and professionals to work towards the reduction restrictive practices, in line with requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
- Assist to coach families, support staff and others in understanding the person, their difficulties and how to implement strategies identified
- Liaise with a range of other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team approach, including interface with mainstream services
- Facilitate case conferences with a range of professionals and promote development of a consistent approach to support and intervention
Skills and experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s level qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural Science or a related discipline.
- Training or qualifications in Positive Behaviour support desirable but not essential as full orientation and training program provided.
- Position is open to Psychologists wanting to complete their 5+1 internship
- Experience working with clients with mental health difficulties, intellectual disability and/or autism
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and work collaboratively with a range of other professionals to achieve identified goals
- A high level of written and oral communication skills, including experience with report writing.

- A commitment to sensitive, inclusive and trauma informed practices
