About You

  • You have demonstrated experience in the delivery of mental health care.
  • You have knowledge of and demonstrated skill in providing culturally appropriate mental health assessment and treatment.
  • You have a high level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in working in collaboration and partnership with multiple agencies to deliver holistic care.
  • You are of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander descent (Section 14D of the Anti-Discrimination Act).
  • Tertiary Bachelor Degree in one of the following; Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Community Welfare, Social Work, Nursing, or a qualification as Aboriginal Health Practitioner (where qualification provides eligibility for professional membership of the relevant professional body e.g. AASW) plus general registration with AHPRA (where applicable).

 

What you’ll be doing

The position sits within the Central Coast Mental Health Service (CCMHS) and plays a key role in the delivery of services provided by the Adult Non-Acute Community Mental Health Teams.

The position is responsible for providing clinical care, including non-acute assessment and care planning for clients presenting with mental illness and/or mental health problems. The teams liaise with local general practitioners and other service providers to assist clients to develop sustainable support networks and to promote positive mental health outcomes.

As an Aboriginal identified position, the role involves the provision of education, cultural expertise, advice and input into the care planning for Aboriginal Clients that are accessing adult non-acute community mental health services, with the aim of ensuring that mainstream services are delivering culturally appropriate and sensitive mental health care to Aboriginal clients.
