Happy Oak was established in 2013 and provides Behaviour Consulting Services to preschool and primary school aged autistic children. We are a boutique business which is privately owned. We aim to be sensitive to each individual’s neurodiversity. 

Happy Oak uses the analysis of verbal behaviour applied behaviour analysis (ABA) to teach communication (through spoken language and/or other means) and daily living skills. We teach kids by utilising special interests and strengths. Trauma Informed Practise is embedded into our services. We take a highly individualised and caring approach to the learners we work with. We recognise the checkered past of ABA and continue to learn by listening to autistic voices to help our learners. ABA currently remains the most effective learning tool for autistic kids. 

Team members are under the clinical supervision of co-owner Tineke Sibbel, Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). The successful candidate will be trained as a Behaviour Therapist and will be part of a supportive team.

This role will suit those with a keen sense of fun, have a proven record of working with young children, and are excellent at building rapport with children and their families. If you have no prior experience in ABA, hands-on experience like babysitting is a big plus. 

We seek employees who are quick learners and are patient, responsible, punctual, committed and empathetic. You must also be resilient and independent. All training is provided.

You will help teach children to communicate, socialise, play and help with their daily living skills across various settings including the children’s homes, Happy Oak’s centre in Malvern, preschool and schools across metropolitan Melbourne. We are seeking casual employees looking to work with us 12 months + . This is suitable for undergraduates in Education, Psychology and in other courses.

Starting Locations: Malvern (centre), Elwood, Clayton, Mount Waverley, Carlton.

(we are closed for summer from 28th December 22 and re-open on 16th January 23)

Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) qualification is highly desirable.

You must also possess the following:

NDIS Workers Screening Check

Current Working with Children’s Check

Current Driver’s Licence and a car to travel to learner sessions

First Aid – CPR and anaphylaxis training

COVID vaccination and keep up to date with booster vaccinations

Availability to work at least 15 to 20 hours per week including Saturdays

LGBTIQ friendly
