Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is an internationally recognised independent, not-for-profit cancer hospital leading the way in delivering patient-centered cancer care. The Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Clinical Psychologist or Specialist Counsellor to join our team, on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE – 3 days per week). The successful candidate will provide benchmarked professional counselling and therapy services to Lifehouse patients and their families.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Clinical Doctorate/Master’s Degrees in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Doctorate/Master’s Degree in Social Work and Membership of the appropriate Professional Organisation (AASW or APS)
  2. Knowledge of a wide range of psychological assessment procedures and specific training and experience in cognitive behavioural and other therapies on an individual and group basis.
  3. Experience in an acute healthcare setting
  4. Evidence in providing appropriate and evidence-based psychological treatments and ability to provide patient management. 
  5. Experience in working with people with cancer and demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial issues for patients with cancer.
  6. Ability to apply for a Medicare provider number.

Desirable Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge

  1. Knowledge of community resources, particularly services for cancer patients.
