Head of Student Wellbeing Shore

JOB DESCRIPTION

Shore is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School, emphasising excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits and fostering integrity in moral and spiritual development in a Christian environment.  Established in 1889 as a leading comprehensive school for the education of boys, Shore welcomed girls to the Early Learning Centre and K, 1, 2 Preparatory School at its Northbridge Campus in 2003. The rich history and traditions of Shore have powerfully shaped the School, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

To further enhance our Wellbeing offering at Shore, we are seeking applications for the newly created role of Head of Student Wellbeing. This position will report directly through to the Deputy Head Pastoral Care and assist with the development and implementation of Programs that reflect the current National Wellbeing Frameworks.

An essential member of the Student Wellbeing team, the Head of Student Wellbeing is responsible for helping to shape Shore’s student culture by enacting and supporting the strategic vision for student wellbeing, leadership and wellbeing programs. This role could be part time or full time opportunity and carries a .4 Teaching load as a full time position.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, planning and executing a best practice wellbeing program for students
  • Supporting Tutors in the delivery of the student wellbeing program
  • Working closely with the Educational Services team to support students with diverse needs
  • Liaising with Health Clinic staff in relation to student health matters
  • Coordination of student leadership, development and training
  • Effectively measuring, monitoring and evaluating the wellbeing of students years 7-12
  • Coordinate student events such as Orientation Days, Year 7 Camp, Student leadership programs, Wellbeing Week, partnerships with sister schools and other student wellbeing events and conferences
  • Work collaboratively with the Chaplain and Head of Service Learning to plan and develop Christian and Service Learning elements of the wellbeing program
  • Liaise with the Head of Careers to develop and maintain scope and sequence of career education within the Wellbeing program
  • Ensure Housemasters are understanding of, and contributing to, a process of restorative practices in resolving conflict
  • Assist with student interviews and parent interviews as and when required
  • Manage, support and review systems to provide excellence in the care of students
  • Oversee the maintenance and management of student pastoral care records, student administration and other needs as required by the legal and registration obligations of the School
  • Liaison with the Cadet Unit Commander around wellbeing issues in within the Cadet Unit

To be successful, you will:

  • Hold the requisite NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) approved teaching qualifications and accreditation, preferably having attained ISTAA ‘Experienced Teacher’ accreditation
  • Have a working knowledge of the current National Wellbeing Frameworks
  • Hold a current & valid paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Wellbeing and CASEL frameworks
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience as a Tutor, Head of House or Year Coordinator is desirable
