HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELLOR 

(Maternity Leave Position)

Amity College (Boys High School) Prestons Campus seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to the position of school counsellor beginning in Term 1, 2023 [27 January 2023].  

This role is a part-time (2 or 3 days), 12-month maternity leave position.

This position has primary responsibility for supporting the educational needs, learning, development, welfare, and well-being of students. 

For the applicants:

Essential Criteria

• Hold relevant tertiary qualification(s).
• Membership of eligible professional association.
• Hold a current Working With Children Check.
• Able to work within a team environment.
• Ability to engage in the culturally sensitive practice.
• Participation in non-client aspects of the role including but not limited to, facilitating student and parent workshops.
• Excellent administration skills, the ability to work independently, and effectively liaise and collaborate with various school departments.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, including the ability to liaise and provide advice regarding student well-being to all levels of the school, and to develop a referral network within the local community of service providers.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience working in schools.
