About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Kew, your responsibilities include working with people who have made applications to the National Redress Scheme for various types of redress. The primary function of the role is to provide sensitive, trauma-informed brief intervention counselling, communication, and liaison. Contact with applicants may be initiated by the Department (DSS) or the applicant, their nominee, or their support person. We encourage applications from First Nations people as the roles will include working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have made application to the National Redress Scheme.
These roles will be located in Melbourne CBD, Lonsdale Street. Each role is part-time, 4 days per week until June 2025.
Skills, experience and qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling, mental health or social work.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with complex trauma and/or where childhood sexual abuse is a presenting issue, using trauma informed interventions and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively intervene, prioritise and manage high risk and crisis situations including suicidality and mandatory reporting.
- Demonstrated experience delivering case management or counselling interventions via telephone and other modalities.
- Highly developed communication skills and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the relevant client population.

A competitive salary package is on offer to the successful candidate with a base salary range of $93k-$101k (pro-rata) per annum, superannuation and access to salary packaging.
