Financial Literacy Counsellor Children’s Ground

JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

Children’s Ground is working to create an environment where families realise their aspirations for the next generation of children to be free from trauma and suffering, enjoy equity and safety, be able to grow into adulthood happy and healthy, and have agency over their social, cultural, political and economic life. To learn more about Children’s Ground and the work we do, visit our website:  https://www.childrensground.org.au

About the Job

A considerable determinant of wellbeing is financial independence. Most families Children’s Ground work with experience poverty and associated issues such as poorer health outcomes, poor housing, overcrowding, intergenerational trauma, and high stress. Addressing economic insecurity through employment is one way of addressing these issues. Broad-scale employment reduces pressure on one or two members of a family to be financially relied upon.

This role works to increase awareness of resources for financial management and the importance of staying out of debt.  This is a long-term approach to greater economic agency and security across the community.  Working to reduce financial stress positively impacts wellbeing, which inevitably flows to children as greater education and knowledge in addressing financial obligations and getting in front will have multiple outcomes for individuals, families and communities.

About You

You will have excellent communication skills to be able to support employees through various programs and provide individualised solutions and mentoring.  You will have a proven track record of developing programs and providing services to strengthen financial literacy and addressing the challenges of gaining and maintaining employment for First Nations employees.  You will need to be passionate and empathetic and will work closely with the Workforce Development Coordinator and Workforce Counsellor to ensure you are supporting the social & emotional wellbeing of people at risk.

Further, this role will require working regularly in outdoor conditions, sitting, standing and moving around in outdoor settings, including getting in and out of motor vehicles and remote location work.

Please see the position description on the Children’s Ground website for further information.

We invite you to walk with us on this unique journey…

Please apply by uploading your current resume and 2-page pitch.

Your pitch should tell us more about who you are, what you are passionate about, what interests you about the role and why you may be a good fit for Children’s Ground and this position, along with your current resume.

Selection criteria in the position description will guide how to frame your pitch and will provide some idea about the content of an interview.

Applications close on Thursday 24th November 2022 at 5pm AEST.

In line with our workforce development strategy, Children’s Ground strongly encourages and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants to apply.
