This is a unique opportunity to work in an exceptional women’s health organisation – making a positive and critical difference in women’s lives. We are seeking an applicant with relevant qualifications and minimum 5 years experience, for a part-time (3 days/week) permanent position who will provide trauma and violence informed casework and some counselling within a feminist and social determinants of health framework. This will include:
- Providing case management support and assistance to women experiencing violence or abuse including:
- assisting clients to stabilise their personal circumstances
- undertaking risk assessment and safety planning
- providing referrals or longer-term individual advocacy
- Working closely with the Centre’s multidisciplinary health team to ensure wrap around services and continuity of care support to clients.
- Making referrals to external health services and other agencies as appropriate to the needs and goals of the client
- Participating in the development, facilitation and evaluation of therapeutic, education/support groups as time and work plan allows.
- Maintaining best practise monitoring and evaluation processes for clients and groups.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Experience in providing high quality casework support and complex case management
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary family issues including family and domestic violence; the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse; homelessness; child protection; poverty; mental health
- Ability to actively listen, build relationships and communicate sensitively, including the ability to provide respectful and welcoming service to women of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
- Understanding of local and state availability of resources, services and supports for women in the lllawarra.
- Ability to advocate on behalf of clients
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, including working to develop, facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, education/support groups.
- Ability to operate independently in outreach locations.
You must have a current NSW Drivers Licence, National Criminal Record Check, a Working with Children Police Check, and be fully vaccinated (and maintain full vaccination status) for COVID-19.
