The Accoras Team
Accoras has been delivering mental health and wellbeing services for South-East Queensland children, young people and families for 30 years. The Accoras Psychosocial Outreach Program (APOP) is a free service, offering outreach support in the homes and schools of children aged six months to 12 years (and their families/carers) who live in the Ipswich and West Moreton region. APOP provides a case management function, clinical and non-clinical support to children who have (or are at risk of developing) a severe mental illness or impaired psychosocial functioning. APOP aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and families, reduce waiting lists for local mental health services and increase the mental health literacy of the Ipswich service community supporting families. Based on our existing and highly-effective CPSP service model, APOP will make a real difference in the lives of Ipswich and surrounds children and families.
The Role
As a Child, Youth and Family Practitioner (CYFP), you’ll work with children and their parents/carers/family in their home or school environment. You will support new referrals to the service and meet with children to assess what is happening in all areas of their lives and develop a collaborative, holistic action and intervention plan to address their identified psychosocial needs. You will provide flexible and practical ongoing psychosocial intervention, advice and support, assessing and responding to risks to client safety as required. Support may also include strategies and interventions targeted at parents/caregivers, to help them positively support the mental health of the child. You will also make warm referrals to external services as required, and deliver group sessions.
This is a full-time, fixed term contract until 31 October 2023, with contract extensions aligned to funding renewals. Working from our brand new office located in Ipswich, you will provide outreach support in client homes and schools within the Ipswich and West Moreton region, with all work-related travel reimbursed.
