JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity 

The Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) is a clinical expert in trauma informed therapeutic care. They provide expertise to Care Teams, Caseworkers and Managers to achieve best practice therapeutic care plans, behavioural support strategies and development of the teams therapeutic knowledge and applied learnings.

  • The Senior BSP Leads a small team of Behaviour Support Practitioners to deliver clinical expertise across the program.
  • They work with external service providers to deliver collaborative psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions and professional services to Children and Young People. 
  • They provide specialist advice and guidance in the development of therapeutic plans,
  • The Senior BSP and Team deliver training concerning the impact of trauma on development, providing advice and oversight to the therapeutic component of casework, including the legalities of Behaviour Support Plans and Restrictive Practices.
  • The team will develop, lead and implement identified projects in relation to model of care, therapeutic practices and Bright Now processes relating to best practice standards of care.

Our ideal candidate will have;

  • Tertiary qualification in psychology with full registration with AHPRA (or relevant equivalent).
  • Ability to administer and complete a variety of psychometric, developmental and cognitive assessments with children and young people.
  • Experience in developing, monitoring and delivering intervention strategies for children, young people, their family and carers.
  • Ability to mentor and guide others in relation to therapeutic approaches, behaviour support plans and restrictive practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate meaningful training packages regarding the effects of trauma.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain relationships with customers, service providers, and various stakeholders
  • Experience in a Therapeutic Care setting or working in clinical environment with children and young people OOHC, 
  • Demonstrated technical writing capabilities including research skills, data collection and analysis and report writing
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check
  • Current Working with Children Check for NSW
