The Position   

Fixed term position, 68.4 hours per fortnight (0.9 FTE) until 28 February 2023 (extension of contract dependent on funding)  

The Mental Health Clinician role sits with the Head to Health mental health hub and works within a multidisciplinary team and alongside existing services. 

The Head to Health Hub team is committed to providing services which are recovery focused, promoting self-determination and collaboration with consumers, families and carers.  

The service delivery includes intake, assessment, individual and group therapy, case reviews, clinical care meetings including clinical care co-ordination, client referral, educational programs, service liaison, client advocacy, and other tasks as identified to address client needs.   

Role responsibilities will encompass engagement and participation in the clinical team and emotionally and practically supporting consumers to work towards achieving their goals.  

We are seeking people with experience in the following fields – Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Psychologist or Psychologist, Acc. Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (MH), Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinician with dual diagnosis experience.

Key Selection Criteria  

  1. Tertiary qualification with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with Mental Health credentialing, or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with Mental Health accreditation or willingness to work towards credentialing / accreditation. 
  2. Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in the Mental health sector, with people experiencing psychological distress, or with people with complex needs including mental health issues. 
  3. Demonstrated skills and experience in conducting assessments with people experiencing psychological distress, and in the development of Treatment/Care Plans in collaboration with clients and families. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to engage and form therapeutic relationships with people from diverse ages and backgrounds in a variety of settings. 
  5. Ability to manage a complex case load and provide demand management function (with support) as required. 
  6. Personal commitment to promoting equality, diversity and human rights in all aspects of service delivery. 
  7. Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to maintain accurate and confidential records utilising electronic Client Management Systems as well as accurately recording targets and associated compliance documentation. 
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication (verbal and written) skills. 
  9. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. 
  10. A valid Working with Children Check 
  11. Current Driver’s Licence. 
  12. Ability to provide vaccination information that meets the requirements for healthcare workers. 

The successful applicant will need to be able to work across rostered shifts including after hours and weekends.
