THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting entry-level Psychosocial Recovery Coach position.  If you are an experienced mental health support worker, with great organisational skills and a strong coaching approach, we would love to hear from you.  We will provide the opportunity for you to grow into this role and will provide expert coaching and development to ensure your success.  Your passion for client outcomes and your enthusiasm to learn will set you apart from other candidates.   

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Recovery Coaches support our clients to build their independence and increase their social and economic participation, by assisting them in taking more control of their lives and better managing complex challenges of day to day living.  The recovery coach will work collaboratively with clients, their families, carers and other services to design, plan, implement and review a recovery plan.  The key responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain a trusting relationship with clients, their family and carers as the cornerstone of recovery-oriented practice.
  • In partnership with clients, develop an individual recovery plan that builds on and compliments the NDIS plan, by clarifying and breaking down goals into short term objectives, articulating strengths and identifying barriers.
  • Monitor, review and adjust the recovery plan in conjunction with clients to ensure the plan continues to meet the needs of the client.
  • Use coaching techniques to support the client to articulate and own what a meaningful life means to them and make decisions for themselves to work towards achieving it.
  • Collaborate with broader service supports in order to use resources and services in an integrated way that aligns with the client’s recovery plan and enables a recovery-oriented approach.
  • Enable clients to become active participants of the NDIS through supporting the development of knowledge of NDIS processes, skills in navigating the NDIS and self-advocacy skills.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Demonstrated track record as a Mental Health Support Worker, with a passion for working with people with a chronic and persistent mental illness
  • Have a minimum Certificate IV in mental health or equivalent mental health/psychology qualification
  • Have strong coaching skills and mental health knowledge with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships
  • Be a strong communicator, with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work independently and also cooperatively as a member of a team
