MADEC has been supporting the Mackay Community since 1973. Our vision is to create an inclusive community that empowers, supports and respects all individuals.
We have a team of 160+ employees who support young people and individuals with a disability to increase their independent living skills, form social/community relationships and take part in activities meaningful to them.
About the Role
We are seeking passionate individuals with the right attitude to join the MADEC Team as Support Workers, whether new to the industry or with years of experience!
Primarily we provide 24/7 independent living (NDIS) and residential youth (OOHC) support.
We endeavour to match our support workers to individuals who have similar values, interests and hobbies to set the foundation for positive relationship building.
What does a day at MADEC look like?
We are focused on person-centred active supports! This support model ensures that individuals can exercise their choice and control, engage in new experiences and achieve their personal goals.
Depending on your preferences, you may be supporting individuals with personal cares, assisting to build capacity with life skills, access the community, attend social events, etc. It’s the ‘everyday stuff’ we all do in life!
Shifts Available:
- Sleepover Shifts: 3pm-4pm start and 8am-9am finish.
- Weekends (day/afternoon and sleepover shifts).

What do we need from you?
- A genuine passion for supporting people
- A willingness to participate in further education and training
- Ability to work autonomously or within a team
- An individual that values human rights, community, excellence, trust and empowers people to be their best.
- Hold a current Queensland Driver’s Licence (Provisional Licence holders welcome)
- Experience in community services or lived experience of disability is highly regarded but not essential – full training will be provided to successful candidates
