About the position
Youth Navigators can be employed Full time or Part Time dependent on business requirements, until the completion of contract in June 2023. The Youth Navigator position involves service delivery and direct client contact within the Youth Portal program based in the Mental Health and Wellbeing unit. This position also provides the opportunity to work flexibly across programs as needed within the Unit. Working as an integral member of the Youth Portal team, reporting directly to the Team Leader, the Youth Navigator is required to work within the organisation’s strategic objectives, values, and outcomes.
The Youth Navigator role involves direct service delivery through the Youth Portal to young people, parents/carers, services, and professionals. As Youth Navigator, you will respond to enquiries via phone, email, text, and web chat helping users navigate the portal and the mental health system in the ACT, providing information and referrals. As part of the service, there is also the provision of Active Hold which involves remaining a central point of contact for the user while they are on waitlists for services.
The Portal will be operational between 11am and 10pm Monday to Sunday. The core hours for the Youth Navigator position will span across Monday to Sunday, and working from home provisions will be in place to allow for work outside of regular business hours. Youth Navigators will be supported via on call provisions as required. On call support will be provided by senior staff members within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit leadership team. This is a part-time position with a requirement of 30 hours per fortnight.
Qualification, certifications and/or security clearance
Skills
- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, mental health, counselling or related fields
- Working With Vulnerable People Card
- National Police Check
Knowledge
- Registration as psychologist, social worker, counsellor or equivalent
- Mental Health First Aid
- Accidental Counsellor
