About the Organisation 

Established in 2006, BWAHS delivers a range of program and services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, men and their families who have been impacted by family violence. These services include, the provision of case management, intensive family support, counselling for women, men and youth and children, and programs for men, women and children. The Women’s group worker will work with the Women’s programs Co-ordinator to design and deliver culturally centred therapeutic groups for women. Currently groups such as possum skin cloaks, parenting groups, Tiddas and other creativity-based programs are being delivered.

How You’ll Make a Difference

This role will involve designing and delivering therapeutic programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have been impacted by family violence. This is an entry-level position and is designed to lead to further training, professional development and career development opportunities.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Due to the nature of this role, only female candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander will be considered for the position. 

Critical to your success in this position will be either a TAFE qualification in a relevant discipline such as Community Services (or similar) OR willingness to undertake these studies during your time with us. BWAHS is committed to upskilling and developing the skills of passionate candidates who are part of our Community, so if you’re interested in making a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women impacted by family violence but are worried you might not have the qualifications, we still encourage you to submit an application.
