Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Student Counsellor. This position is responsible for providing personal and professional counselling services to the students at Gleeson College, also providing assistance and input in the areas of Child Protection, Critical Incidents, Mandated Reporting policies and procedures and referrals to external providers.
This position is available as a contract from 23 January – 14 April 2023, with a flexible FTE.
The successful applicant will:
- Provide confidential counselling service for students, and work collaboratively with parents and staff, while adhering to mandatory notification principles.
- Ensure students are counselled regarding personal and social issues, and are counselled in crisis situations
- Ensure referrals are provided for ongoing issues which exceed the professional training, expertise or mandated requirements of the Student Counsellor.
- Ensure programs are initiated and supported with respect to wellbeing, mental health, resilience and other related topics.
- Ensure staff are supported to identify students at risk and offer counselling, support, advocacy and links to external support providers.
- Demonstrate a willingness to support the ethos of our Catholic College in line with the Gleeson 10 and Gleeson Staff 5.
