The Role:
  
We are currently seeking an experienced Practitioner to join our high-risk PRADO team for a 12-month fixed term period on a full-time basis. This position will provide case management to women experiencing domestic and family violence, with the aim of reducing repeat occurrences of domestic violence and improve service responses via co-location with Queensland Police. As part of their work requirements, the successful candidate will be based at CFRS’ Maroochydore office and will be working from the Mooloolaba Vulnerable Persons Unit approximately 3 days per week. This is to promote a highly collaborative working relationship between Centacare and the Qld Police Service, working within the framework of Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) mission, values and vision.
  
Key Duties:

  • Make initial contact with women who have experienced domestic violence following receipt of a referral from QLD Police.
  • Completion of client intake, including initial risk assessment/s and safety planning.
  • Support the client to identify their goals and immediate needs to assist in increasing safety, agency and autonomy.
  • Provide time limited case management for up to 3 months; This may include, but is not limited to, advocating on behalf of the client, making additional referrals, providing psychoeducation and counselling and other practical assistance.
  • Referrals for safety upgrades to assist in keeping women and children safe in their own home.
  • Collaboration and information sharing with QLD Police to increase safety for victim survivors and accountability for persons using violence.
  • Participation in high risk DV meetings (DVCAM) and liaising with other local stakeholders, e.g., Child Safety, Corrections, Housing and QPS.

  
Skills and Experience:
  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW or similar recognised professional association).[RK1][MK2] 
  • Previous experience in working with women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence.
  • Knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and the Family Law Act
  • skills and experience in intake, risk assessment, crisis intervention, DVO assistance and safety planning.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of brief, solution-focused counselling and psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.
  • Be a highly effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills who is able to advocate for our clients’ needs with other statutory organisations/ departments.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Possess a well-developed written work including case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work within the ethos of the Catholic Church which includes the principals of Catholic Social Teaching.

Essential requirements for the role: 

  • Have a current driver’s licence.
  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply.
  • Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one.
  • agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences.
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail s if needed)
