  • Duration:  12 month
    contract, subject to further funding

About the role

Drummond Street Services (DS) is a
not-for profit, recognised as leaders in delivering intersectional and whole of
family practice approaches, providing services to individuals, families and
marginalised communities.  Due to recent growth
in our capacity building projects we have created a new position within our
training team.  This is an exciting
opportunity for an experienced practitioner to be involved in innovative
practice development projects, and work with a diverse, high performing and
collaborative team.

The Senior Training
and Practice Development Officer will work across multiple projects to develop
and deliver high quality training, capacity building and organisational
readiness resources that disseminate DS practice model both within our own
services, and across a range of other sectors that we work in partnership
with.  This includes a focus on;

  • Intersectionality
  • Whole of family
    approach to practice
  • Working with LGBTIQ+
    communities and their families
  • Public health
  • Risk and protective
    factors across the lifespan
  • Lived-experiences
    and Co-production, and
  • Recovery oriented
    practice

The role is best
suited to those with strong written and oral communication skills, and an
ability to articulate practice frameworks. 
Connections with one or more of the marginalised communities with which our
service works is also highly desirable. 

Your responsibilities

  • Design and deliver training and education that supports
    practice change and development across a range of areas, including
    intersectional, whole of family practice, LGBTIQ+, with a particular focusing
    on developing organisational readiness and practice to address the needs of
    marginalised or at-risk cohorts.
  • Develop and implement innovative capacity building and
    practice change initiatives, informed by high quality evidence, public health
    principles and our co-production approach.
  • Contribute to the development of a range of practice tools
    and documents in consultation with practitioners, service leaders, community
    members and people with lived experience.
  • Collaboratively engage with a range of internal and external
    stakeholders to understand and address identified service gaps and needs, and
    to develop the profile of Drummond Streets capacity building, training and
    consultancy services. 
  • Plan, implement and evaluate projects, including writing
    project plans, working with the team and other collaborators to achieve
    milestones and deliverables, maintaining records and communicating with
    stakeholders to track progress and any issues or risks that may arise.

Selection Criteria, please address the following in your
application to be considered.

Essential

  • Qualifications and/or experience in social work or other
    relevant disciplines.
  • Experience in designing and delivering workforce development
    and/or capacity building initiatives, including training that supports
    participants to maximise learning, is inclusive and reflective of DS
    organisation’s ethos, values and goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic, intersectional and
    whole of family approaches to practice, and experience of applying these in a
    relevant field (e.g. MH, AOD, LGBTIQ+, FV) 
  • Demonstrated high-level written, oral and interpersonal
    communication skills and organisational skills including the ability to meet
    deadlines and prioritise work tasks.
  • A genuine interest and commitment to applying an
    intersectional approach to working with diverse populations and people with
    lived experience, including LGBTIQ+, First Nations, refugee, CALD and other
    marginalised communities

Highly Desirable

  • You identify as belonging to one or more of the communities
    with whom DS assertively engages
