Reporting to the Director of Pastoral Care, we are currently seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team of School Counsellors to commence in Term 1 2023. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 weeks of the year (4 days per week is negotiable for the right applicant).
The School Counsellor is an integral member of the pastoral care team.
The Role
- Responsible for providing pastoral care and psychological support and education to students from Year 5 to Year 12.
- Provide support and guidance in the social, emotional and educational needs of day and boarding students.
- Provide clinical guidance and leadership to the counselling team.
- Collaborate and contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of pastoral programs.
- Consult with parents and staff regarding concerns about students. Participate in the development and implementation of appropriate pastoral supports and care plans for these students.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology.
- Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA or with an equivalent professional body.
- Experience in providing psychological support to children and adolescents.
- A sound understanding of child protection legislation and adolescent care is essential.
- Be able to manage the legal, ethical and organisational requirements of a clinical, counselling role in an educational setting.
