About Ilim College

The role
We are seeking a Head of Student Services for our Kiewa Boys Campus in Dallas.
To be considered, applicants must possess the following attributes:
- Develop and maintain the students Welfare and Management policies and programs
- Oversees the services and programs of the departments below to help cater for wellbeing of students and individual needs of student:
- Additional Needs
- Counsellors
- Speech pathology
- SRC
- Student Leadership Program
- iEntertaintment
- Has current and extensive understanding of additional needs, counselling, speech intervention programs and activities
- Develops and implements a strategic plan and an implementation plan for student services
- Develops wellbeing programs and works closely with counseling department (such as the counselling yearly wellbeing programs)
- Fortnightly meetings with student services team
- Organises, conducts and maintains records of meetings with speech pathologists, counsellors, nurse and all staff conducting intervention programs and ensures smooth running of all areas
- Leads the “Be You” program
- Monitors referrals and assessment of children having or suspected of having disabilities/difficulties
- Monitors services provided to students, to cater for their needs (e.g.one-to-one, lesson delivery is in sync with year level term planners)
- Oversees the completion and the implementation of ILPs by working closely with the Additional Needs Domain Head
- Liaises with ISV for any changes/updates regarding funding for current year and beyond
- Develops and maintains policies pertaining to student services such, as well beings, cyber safety, resiliency etc…
- Liaises with iCommunity Engagement committee head to involve Parent Engagement Officers in school programs
- Provides guidance and support to all teaching staff (needs based; workshops/consultations/resourcing); (2022 ADN workshops to continue)
- Participates in the appraisal process
- Liaises with librarians to establish references and resources for students and staff
- Provides support with school events such as parent/teacher interviews, information nights, assemblies and community engagement activities during school and after school hours
- Completes NCCD, Commonwealth and state funding applications in liaison with additional needs and informs staff about funding procedures
- Oversees timetable for integration aides, intervention programs
- Monitors student progress in intervention groups by analysing pre- and post-tests.
- Oversees the afterschool activities (iEntertaintment, Ihsan Committee etc.)
- Organises teacher training/PDs
- Organises/oversees team training
- Regularly checks Mentor/logbooks (twice termly)
- Assists in the professional development of teaching staff
- Facilitates and conducts workshops
- Conducts satisfaction surveys on students and teachers to ensure that quality programs and support is being provided to both parties
- Supervises and coordinates a program of orientation for new teachers and in-service training for experienced teachers
- Promotes effective teacher intervention, corrective action and follow-up
- Provides a consistent and continuous school-wide focus on students’ wellbeing.
- Prepares and submits reports to the principal relating to the progress and accomplishments in student wellbeing
- Attends Leadership Meetings (1 period pw)
- Assists with transition programs
- Maintains the student services folders and Google documents
- Oversees/contributes to writing SEAS applications
- Family needs/support planning
- Runs beginning of year departmental induction programs
- Conducts daily check-ins with high needs students
- Writes GP referral letters
- Writes student support letters (Centrelink, etc..)
- Writes NDIS support letters
- Creates/runs parent training programs
