This position is graded as up to an Occupational Therapist Level 3, Social Worker Level 3, Psychologist and Registered Nurse. Graduates from the Bachelor of Health Science Mental health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3. 

This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

About the team:
The Manning Community Mental Health Team provides mental health services to Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster and Taree, located on the beautiful Lower Mid North Coast of NSW. The dynamic, multidisciplinary team is supported by the Clinical Care Coordinator with clinical supervision available and encouraged to support your professional development and career growth.

About the role:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will provide efficient and effective assessment and care coordination services for people experiencing mental health concerns and their families and carers. This community based position will require you to provide intervention and consultation to older individuals in the home, community health setting and Residential Aged Care Facilities. You will take charge and case manage clients within Taree or Forster and surrounding areas ensuring that clients receive quality person centred care whilst working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team and be supported by the Clinical Care Coordinator, clinical supervision is available and encouraged. The hours for the position are 8:30am – 5:00pm.

About You:
The successful candidate will have comprehensive clinical experience and knowledge in relation to mental illness, assessment and care planning including working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007, and contemporary principles and practices in mental health care. You will also have the ability to assess risk, perform mental state examinations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Your exceptional communication skills and passion for building therapeutic relationships with consumers will be the key to your success in this position. 

Information for Applicants:

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. 

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases – this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_030). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.

To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
