The position is based with the Royal North Shore Community Mental health Service.

 

What you’ll be doing

MHDA Declaration
Each person’s unique journey of recovery will be supported by mental health drug and alcohol services in a way that fosters hope, purpose and resilience.
 
MHDA Statement of Intention
The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
 

Provision of an individualised peer support program to people transitioning between acute inpatient mental health care and the community.

 

 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:       

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrate these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Past or current personal experience using Mental Health and/or Drug & Alcohol related services.
  3. Able and willing to share aspects of your personal treatment and recovery experience with others, individually and/or in groups, in a safe and effective way.
  4. Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective working relationships with a diverse range of people, including the people using Mental Health / Drug & Alcohol services, clinicians, managers and community members.
  5. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to develop and/or deliver education and training.
  7. Demonstrated ability to coordinate group activities across hospital and community settings (eg: for the purpose of social inclusion, rehabilitation, education and /or recovery).
  8. Computer and internet literacy.
