The role
This critical role will enable you to put your stamp on the future direction of the Wellbeing Outfit’s portfolio of mental health and wellbeing service offerings. The role requires a candidate who is ambitious, disciplined, and passionate about improving workplace mental health and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of mental health and ill health and how to proactively manage it along with a strong understanding of workplace psychosocial risk, and Australian State and Territory regulations.
You will be someone who enjoys being on the tools and being able to think strategically.
There is flexibility for this role to be based in any of the Eastern Seaboard States or ACT.
Your Responsibilities
As Head of Psychological Health and Safety you will be responsible for:
- Working with our clients to design and implement safety, wellbeing, and performance strategies.
- Delivering our workshop based programs.
- Leading the development of Wellbeing Outfits programs/initiatives that support wellbeing and proactively manage mental ill-health in the workplace.
- Following the policies and procedures in place to ensure Wellbeing Outfit is working towards operational excellence.
- Leading a team of Wellbeing Outfit facilitators so they are able to successfully deliver our programs to clients.
- Contributing to the growth of our business through the acquisition of new clients.
Essential Qualifications/Requirements for the role
- Registered psychologist or equivalent qualification that enables you to work in the field of psychological health and safety.
- Minimum of 10 years experience working in Mental Health.
Technical knowledge
- An understanding of the determinants of wellbeing and the pathology of mental illness and mental ill-health.
- An understanding of the safety landscape in Australia and the Australian Health & Safety legislation and ISO for psychosocial hazard management and its application in workplaces around Australia. (Practical application of this knowledge is desirable but not essential)
- An understanding of business planning and strategy development.
- Experience leading and supporting a program of work to effect transformational change across an organisation.
Risk management
- An understanding of how to formulate strategies and design interventions/initiatives that assess risk and support organisations in the mitigation and management of psychological hazards in the workplace.
- An ability to support organisations in the management of critical incidents associated with mental ill health or psychological harm. For example, the suicide of an employee or the psychological impact of the changing ways of working or misbehaviour in the workplace.
Experienced communicator
- An engaging and persuasive speaker.
- Demonstrated creative and adaptable communication skills to drive engagement and gain the confidence and respect of clients.
- Ability to coach senior leaders through a problem to figure out solutions that enable them to create safe and mentally healthy workplaces.
An innovator
- Ability to be a thought leader in workplace psychological health and safety.
- Ability to translate theory into applications that are practical, engaging, and relevant to all levels of the organisation – individuals, leaders, and organisation.
